Steamed Beer Chicken with Onion, Garlic & Ginger
Ingredients :
turmeric powder
1 whole chicken
Onion
Garlic
Ginger
Salt
Pepper
A.
1. Wash and Soak bird into a pot full of water and vinegar for 20 minutes
2. 3 soupspoon salt
3. 3 soupspoon pepper
4. 3 soupspoon freshly squeezed lemon
Mix all up together and let sit aside
In the meantime,
1. cut the onions and shell all the garlic + slice the ginger and put them aside.
2. prepare 3 cups of rice, wash well and let sit in drainer to dry
3. Mince onion and garlic
B.
1. Rinse fryer and set aside to dry or u can you paper towel to tap it dry
2. Cut off some fat and set aside
3. Rub turmeric powder onto chicken then rub the ingredients you’ve prepared in A onto chicken
C.
1. Layer onion rings on bottom of pot then garlic and ginger
2. Place dryer on to then pour in 1 can of beer
3. Cook for 30 minutes on medium low heat. After 30 minutes, (do not remove lid) turn off fire and let sit for another 30 minutes
D.
1. In hot frying pan, Instead of cooking oil, put in chicken fat then add minced onion and garlic -fry until yellow
2. Add in rice and fry for 5-10 minutes
3. Sprinkle in some turmeric and stir well and turn off fire
E. I don’t have a rice cooker so I‘LL cook it the old fashion way.
1. Use 1 cup of water for every cup of rice
2. For 3 cups of rice, use 3 cups of water. Instead of water, I’ll use 1 1/2 cup of beer from the steamed chicken and 1 1/2 cup of boiling water
3. Add 1 tsp salt into rice and cook over burner for 15 minutes.
4. Open lid, stir rice and cook for another 15 minutes before it’s done.
Side Sauce
2 soupspoon sugar
2 soupspoon lime
2 soupspoon fish sauce
2 soupspoon boiling water
2 chili pepper
2 soupspoon minced garlic
2 soupspoon minced onion
